WIP Wednesday - 4/25/2018

I didn't stitch that much this past week.  Although I stitched everyday, I skipped a couple of days on Let's Hug a Teacher and a couple of days only managed one or two letters.  I will continue working on it this next week in hopes of finishing it before May 1st so I've left it on the Q-snaps.

For my small project, I started Spring 2018, a SAL from WOCS (World of Charily Stitching).  Everyone is doing the same pattern and each person chooses a pastel floss from a list provided.  I decided to use DMC 48.

Happy Dance - Church in the Snow

Started: 4/15/2018
Finished: 4/20/2018

I found this chart in an old Cross Stitch Crazy magazine.  It's from the Design Library titled Winter Wonderland by Rhona Norrie.

It's stitched on 14-count white plastic canvas with the called for DMC.  Some of the backstitching had to be modified because I couldn't split the stitches on plastic canvas.

I stitched this for the Christmas Ornie SAL where the theme for April is White Christmas.

It just needs a backing and hanger and hopefully will be hanging on my Christmas tree come December.

WIP Wednesday - 4/18/2018

This week I worked on three projects and had one finish.

For my large project, I worked on Santa Quintet which was next in the rotation.  I didn't get as much done as I'd hoped, because I only stitched on it for five of the seven days.  The color is more realistic in the bottom picture.

For my small project, after finishing Fabulous Cherries, I started the project for this month's Christmas Ornie SAL where the theme is White Christmas.  It will be a church surrounded by snow.

Happy Dance - Fabulous Cherries

Started: 4/10/2018
Finished: 4/14/2018

This is the second of the fabulous fruits in the Crazy for Fabulous Fruit section of Cross Stitch Crazy #192.  It's stitched as charted on white 14-count Aida with the called for DMC.

As I mentioned earlier, it will become part of a wall hanging once I finish the rest of the fruit.

WIP Wednesday - 4/11/2018

Besides finishing two small projects this week, I also brought out my Let's Hug a Teacher project out of my WIP bag for another turn in the rotation.  This needs to be done by early May and I anticipate it will need one more rotation to complete.
As of 4/4/2018
As of today
I also started a new small project, Fabulous Cherries last night, but haven't stitched enough on it yet to justify a picture.  Next up in the rotation is Santa Quintet.

March Recap

I know this is late this month and I almost decided to skip it.  Why is it when you have time to blog, there's little or nothing to blog about, but when you have a lot, you're too busy to blog?  That's what's been happening here lately. So, better late than never.

I worked on seven projects this month, starting three, finishing three and making progress on three WIPs.  There were no FFO's this month, but hopefully in April.  I also stitched every day this month which is one of my stitching goals this year and I now have 11 finishes for 2018.

The three finishes are:
Dove of Peace

Sampling Easter
Three Kings
 The new start:
Let's Hug a Teacher
And finally, the status of the three WIPS I worked on at the end of March:
Santa Quintet
Tinkerbell Spring Blossoms
Big Trees

I typically stitch on two projects each day, one large project with q-snaps on my floor stand and one smaller project that I can either stitch using a five inch hoop or in hand.  I do OAAT with the small project, but I've been rotating the large project.  So far, this seems to be working well for me.

As far as accomplishing things in March, it wasn't that much better than February. April seems to have started off much better though.

Sampling Easter Drawing

Since today is April 10th, it's time to draw the name of the winner of the Sampling Easter chart by Lizzie Kate.  I used a Random Number Generator and the winner is Stitching Noni of Fireflies and Cats in the Garden.

Noni - Please email me your snail mail information and I'll get the chart out to you as soon as I find it.  Unfortunately, I put it somewhere safe and now I can't remember where, but I'll make looking for it a priority.

Happy Dance - Art Alphabet Letter K

Started: 4/8/2018
Finished: 4/9/2018

This chart came from Cross Stitch Crazy #241and was designed by Susan Bates.  It's stitched as charted on 14-count white Aida with the called for DMC except that I substituted 703 for the called for 3819 (I didn't like the color).  I also swapped the 703 and 704 so the light and dark matched.  Looking at it now, I think I should have changed the lighter pink to a darker shade.

I stitched this for Kyleigh's quilt since she loves art, especially drawing.  I've fondly named this chart "paint splat K".

Yes, I'm still working on Kyleigh's quilt. Since the squares measure only 6.5" x 6.5 inches, it will take a lot of them.  I do need to pull them all out and take inventory soon though.

Happy Dance - Fabulous Strawberry

Started: 4/1/2018
Finished: 4/7/2018

This cute little guy is one of the fabulous fruits in the Crazy for Fabulous Fruit section of Cross Stitch Crazy #192.  It's stitched as charted on white 14-count Aida with the called for DMC.

I originally planned to use this on Kyleigh's quilt, but after looking at the other fruits, I've decided to stitch several of them and make them into a wall hanging.

WIP Wednesday - 4/4/2018

This time for my large project, I rotated to Big Trees and finished the tree trunks and started more trees and sky.  What's showing is now the full width of the chart.
As of 2/14/2018
As of 4/4/2018
For my small project, I started a strawberry, one of the Funky Fruit charts in Cross Stitch Crazy #192.
I guess I should explain what I mean by a big or small project.  A big project uses Q-snaps on my floor stand and a small project can be stitched in hand or with a 5" hoop.

Opening Day at Angels Stadium

Yesterday was the first home game of the 2018 season for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.  Bob, Janice, Kyleigh and I went.  Bob brought a friend with him who finally got to meet the little girl who texted her on Bob's phone during previous games.

During the off season, the control room was gutted and rebuilt using all digital equipment and the video boards were replaced with larger boards and additional boards were added, all digital of course.

Happy Easter!

I hope you've all had a Happy Easter celebrating the risen Christ Jesus.  Our Easter started with an outdoor church service at our church.
The cross rises during the first hymn
There are between 2000 and 3000 attendees.

The 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders sang
There's also an Easter egg hunt, petting zoo and balloon artists following the service.  I skipped that this year, but Kyleigh and her mom went.

Kyleigh asked Janice to purchase one of the Easter Lilies to decorate the stage in memory of her great grandmother, Betty Ann Lake with whom she shares a middle name.  She then got to take one of the lilies home with her.

We later met Devin, Janice and Kyleigh for Easter lunch at one of our favorite restaurants where they had a special consisting of ham or turkey with yams or mashed potatoes.  I love the ham they do on holidays so I was very happy with my meal.
